Description

Blackwood Projects was engaged by Brisbane City Council to undertake flood repairs to the Indooroopilly Canoe Club’s canoe shed and construct a new amenities block for the club.

The project involved working on a restrictive site, with access via a steep driveway off a busy road. Traffic management, delivery timing and plant access were carefully planned through a comprehensive traffic management plan. The canoe club remained open throughout the project, with unrestricted access to the driveway, pontoons and parking maintained.

Long-lead items, including custom coloured blocks, were ordered immediately on award of the contract, and the construction methodology for the new amenities block was adapted to suit a redesign of the new retaining wall and footing/apron slab to suit site conditions.
