Description

Blackwood Projects acted as Principal Contractor for the staged upgrade of mechanical and electrical services at Corinda Library, delivered within a fully operational, high-use public facility. The scope included disconnection and removal of legacy air-conditioning systems, installation of new ducted split systems and external air equipment, electrical mains and switchboard upgrades, and extensive associated builder’s works within a heritage-sensitive structure.

The project demanded detailed pre-construction planning and careful coordination with Brisbane City Council. Construction was sequenced to minimise disruption to library operations, with high-impact activities programmed outside public hours and on closure days. Temporary services maintained occupant comfort during changeovers.

Key works involved complex ceiling removal and reinstatement, plant installation, roof penetrations, scaffold access, and meticulous cataloguing and reinstatement of heritage timber linings. Progressive commissioning, strict safety and environmental controls and proactive stakeholder coordination ensured compliant delivery and uninterrupted public access throughout the project.
